I was offered an interesting opportunity to start having delivered daily to my home a very high-quality pre-prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for $35.99 a day, that averages out to about $7.20 a meal.
With a latte and a muffin it's easy to be at about $7.20 for breakfast. Living in the NYC area $7.20 for lunch is a bargain and $7.20 for dinner every day would be a steal. But I must admit that when I first looked at $35.99 a day it seemed a little high, but broken out it made more sense.
Now home delivery of pre-prepared meals is not a new idea as you can get them from IN THE DELIVERY ZONE, ZONE DELIVERY USA and the CHEF'S DIET to name just a few.
And having been a customer of Nutri-System years ago and Jenny Craig their meals are pre-prepared, but usually you go in and pick them up. But now I think they also will send them to you.
But as I kept pondering the notion of $35.99 a day, I had to do the math...
What would that come out to in a year... so, 365 x $35.99 a day = $13,015.90
$13.015.90
Now I'm not knocking any of these programs because what that little calculation did to me was open my eyes to say that give or take a dollar ot two at every meal I bet if I actually tracked what I spent every day on food in some shape or form I'm easily at $35.99 a dayand truth be told, I think I'd be lucky if that was all my daily average was.
and then...
Since we have 4 adults living in our house... 4 x $13,015.90 = $52,063.60
WOW! $52,063.60, now that's something to ponder.
When our family started practicing "1/2 is more..." it really was a wake up call that without a lot of effort, we could easily order less, still really enjoy what we were eating, and the added bonus was that we had the opportunity to not only have "less on our waist, but more in our wallet".
But I have to admit that after doing the math I think we need to have a family meeting and take a closer look at the reality we're living the in the headline I recently saw on a MINI billboard. it read... "PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS", based on these numbers, we're not only PUTTING OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH IS, what's eye opening is where is that money's going...
