Barbie-Q + Bocce

Heading south this morning to meet Jennifer for brunch at the shore, and then we'll heading further south for an afternoon and evening of Barbie-Q and Bocce with Jack and Les at Judy and Charlie's. We haven't been to their place in 20+ years. Curious to see where my head will be with what I'm eating because they're having Charlie's world famous crab sauce, lobster and ribs, and I know with that just the tip of the "foodberg" with that crew!

I'm 53 Years Young!

Yes, it was my birthday and I had a nice day, but what I enjoyed the most about the day was that I really didn't have any desire to pig out because it was my birthday.

I took pics of everything except for a Kashi cookie I ate on the run to an appointment, that happens sometimes.

Breakfast... of course I had to have my venti Starbucks 1/2 caf with some milk and a Sweet N'Low, then a refill and a Kashi TLC fruit & grain bar.

Lunch... a Quick Check sub and a few chips, hey it is my birthday. It looks like a big sub, but it wasn't.

Later in the afternoon I had a snack of mixed nuts and an Izze.

Dinner... some tortilla chips and salsa, and Kim and I split a dinner. So I had a birthday dinner treat, but by sharing my dinner with Kim I had 1/2 the calories and I was more than satisfied.

And the best gift I got for my birthday... the gift I gave myself.

The gift to continue to do whatever I have to do so that this time next year [hopefully sooner], on my 54th birthday, I not only weigh well below 200 lbs, I've also become UBER physically fit and I'm leading a much more vibrant, vital and highly active life!

Ripley's Helping Me Cut Calories

I started my day off with my usual Starbucks vent 1/2 caf with a little milk, followed by a McDonald's Sausage Biscuit.

Then around 10 I made myself a Designer Whey protein drink to keep me going while I knew I was going to be super busy today.

So when 1 rolled around, there really wasn't really any time to break for lunch so I ran into Jen's kitchen and made a quick bite to eat, little did I know how quick a bite it was going to be. Nothing fancy, just healthy. Natural peanut butter on Ezekiel bread.

So I go to sit back down at my computer, pick up my sandwich, and I just happen to drop it slightly down below the desk, and CHOMP, I feel a pull on my sandwich like you would when you're fishing.

Oh I caught something! 

A 95 lb Labrador, all I could see was 1/2 a sandwich, and a big brown head.

So in a matter of seconds I cut 1/2 my calories thanks to Ripley.

Tired, and wanting to get out for some fresh air and dinner, we wandered around looking for a place to eat. I don't know about you, but I hardly ever make great food choices when I'm tired, and this dinner was no exception. 

The only good thing I can say is that I'm at least much more aware of everything I'm putting in my mouth ever since I started taking pictures of everything I'm eating.

Having wandered all over we ended up stopping at Diner, where I ordered one of my old favorites, a grilled Ruben with fry's.

But once it showed up at the table it really looked disgusting. Not that it looked disgusting for any particular reason, other than my mind has really made a shift in what I'm willing to put in my mouth now. 

I really wanted to send it back, but I ordered it. 

I guess I could have really done something out of character and just have not eaten it, but that seemed too wasteful, how strange is that when you think about it. 

So I decided to only eat 1/2, but I must admit I didn't like it, enough so, that I know it's going to be a very long time before I ever order one again, if ever.

I really am starting to feel that all this picturing taking is start to rewire my thinking for the better!

Jersey Shore Tastings...

Now that I got caught up with my postings from Friday and Saturday, it feels good to get back on track with posting and updating in more real time.

 So... to start my day I had two Starbucks venti 1/2 cafe with a little whole milk and a Sweet N'Low, and then we had breakfast at Steve's in Sea Bright.

Lesson learned... if you go somewhere for something you really want, and they don't have it, you just might want to leave an go somewhere else.

Why? 

Well I've found that more times than not, no matter what other substitute you try, more times than not you'll be unhappy.

That's what happened at Steve's this morning. We specifically went there for their AMAZING corned beef, only to find out that they don't serve it in the summer, and we should have left. But we stayed.

We all tried to find something else but we had corned beef in our mouths and nothing was going to satisfy that taste, and it didn't. My sub, scrambled Huevos Rancheros, and the potatoes weren't good either. As you can see it doesn't look tasty, and it wasn't. Next...

Eggs

I didn't have anything else till very late in the afternoon when we went to a Polo Match, my first. Now I would have thought that they would have had a very nice spread, not... Lots of the usual suspects for a regular event, salads, wraps, some fruit and cookies. None of it was good. 

So I ate  a wrap and a little fruit.

So by the time we had dinner I was starving. The pics didn't come out great but Jennifer and I spilt a dinner.

And since I'm on a quasi vacation I treated myself to a hot fudge sundae @ Stewarts.
